Ask what rent includes
Confirm whether water, electricity, internet, security, cleaning or refuse collection are included. Write separate amounts into the calculator when they are not.
Rent is only one part of a housing budget. Add utilities, food, transport, deposits and setup costs to compare options in Zambian kwacha before you commit.
A cheaper room can cost more overall when transport and utilities are added. Run the calculator once for each property and record the same categories every time.

Check the route at the time you expect to travel. A fare that changes by time of day or needs two vehicles should be entered using the realistic one-way total.
A refundable deposit still affects move-in cash. Ask for the refund conditions in writing and keep proof of payment.
Bedding, a desk, cooking items, locks or curtains can make the first month different from later months. Include only what the room does not already provide.
View the room, confirm the person receiving the money, read the agreement and use a traceable payment method. A calculation cannot verify a listing.
Prices and usage change. If the result uses every kwacha available, compare a lower-cost option or set aside a buffer for unexpected transport or utility charges.
Monthly transport equals one-way fare × two journeys × campus days per week × 4.33 weeks. Monthly living cost adds rent, utilities, internet or data, food, other recurring costs and transport. Move-in cash adds the deposit and setup costs to the first month. The twelve-month estimate includes twelve monthly totals plus setup costs; it does not count a refundable deposit as a permanent annual expense.
This is a planning estimate. It does not predict price changes, deposit refunds or personal spending. Confirm every quoted amount with the provider and use the written agreement as the final record.
